Lil Wayne to Play Jesus? as Often as He's Been Dead and Resurrected Online...

Lil Wayne will voice Jesus on an Adult Swim show called 'Freakniks'. As often as Lil Wayne is said to be dead and resurrected on the web, I can see why he was chosen to voice Jesus, but will the oft said to be dead rapper anger some with this choice?

This wouldn't be the first time Adult Swim has aired a show that could draw ire from some Christian groups. There was the show 'Moral Orel', a stop-animation series meant to parody the old 'Davey and Goliath' shows of the 60's. On that show, all of the members of a town called Moralton held themselves to be upstanding Christian citizens, while actually being hypocritical, debauched, and sometimes cruel (except for one boy, whose efforts at pleasing his Christian neighbors by following their rules got him into loads of trouble). That show definitely portrayed Christianity in a bad light, but I never noticed a big backlash from it (I honestly don't think it got enough viewers). However, having big names like T-Pain and Lil Wayne attached to the new show 'Freakniks' and having one of them voice Jesus might draw a little more attention to it. But on the other hand, 'Family Guy' did an episode featuring Jesus and got away with it.

Regardless of the controversy, 'Freakniks' is sounding like an interesting show, about a Spring Break called "Freaknik" that took place in Atlanta in the late 90's. How Lil Wayne as Jesus plays into this is beyond me, but it looks like 'Freakniks' is definitely going to be about the music. It'll begin airing on Adult Swim on March 21, 2020.

And for Adult Swim fans that want to know more about what will be airing in 2020 other than Lil Wayne playing Jesus, 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force', 'Metalocalypse', 'The Venture Bros', and 'Squidbillies' will all return, along with a show you haven't seen on Adult Swim in quite some time, 'The Boondocks'.

There's also a very interesting-looking new show airing in 2020 on Adult Swim called 'Tight Bros', which seems to be airing at the right time, thanks to the popularity of the MTV "reality" show 'Jersey Shore'. It's created by Sam Johnson and Chris Marcil, who worked on 'Beavis and Butthead' and 'How I Met Your Mother', and it will be about two "stupid guys who think they're not stupid" from New Jersey. And from what I can tell from the drawings of these two guys, the same people that hate 'Jersey Shore' aren't going to have any love for 'Tight Bros', either.

So will Lil Wayne turn up dead and get resurrected again before his new show airs? Check Google Trends every Sunday to find out, and be sure to party down with the 'Freakniks' and the 'Tight Bros' when these new shows air on Adult Swim.
