Great Romance Books Guaranteed to Make You Cry

Looking for a really moving book? This article gives readers a list of romance books that are guaranteed to make them cry. Each book included here has a summary to help readers figure out if it is something they are interested in.

Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson
This book is an extremely moving story about joy, hope, loss and tragedy. Two love stories are revealed in this book. The first focuses on a woman named Kate who has found the "perfect man" only to find that he has disappeared from her life one day. This man, Matt, sends Kate a diary as a way of explanation. This is where the second love story comes into play. The diary is written by Matt's wife for their infant son Nicholas. As Kate reads on, she is moved by the love for a mother and her child. She also discovers Matt's tragic secret, giving her hope for their future. This is an unforgettable romance that is both heartbreaking and extremely poignant.

Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks
Adrienne Willis has been dumped at forty-five when her husband decides to find love with a younger woman. She is extremely heartbroken and in search of a little alone time to regroup. She goes to Rodanthe, North Carolina to look after her friend's inn for a weekend in hopes of having a short break from life. A major storm moves in threatening to ruin Adrienne's little getaway. But then a guest name Paul Flanner checks in, and Adrienne's world is turned upside down. Paul has his own hurts and secrets, and with the storm closing in these two wounded people turn to each other. Their one weekend together creates a love that lasts for the rest of their lives. This book is a beautiful story about everlasting love and healing hearts.

Beauty by Susan Wilson
This book is a retelling of the classic story "Beauty and the Beast." Alix Miller (Beauty) is hired to paint a portrait for Leland Crompton (the Beast), who is following a family tradition and not too enthused with having his likeness painted. Leland's face is deformed as a result of a genetic disorder. Alix and Leland end up spending a great deal of time together as a result of Alix's work. These two characters are drawn to one another and love blooms. This is a wonderful story of love and acceptance, driving home the concept of inner beauty. The ending catches you by surprise however so have a few tissues ready.

Sam's Letters to Jennifer by James Patterson
The main character is this book is Jennifer. She is grieving the death of her husband, and then another tragedy happens. The grandmother that she is very close with and loves dearly, Sam, falls into a coma. When returning home, Jennifer finds letters addressed to her. These letters are Sam's life story, including an affair she had with a man she says was her true love. Shocking since Jennifer thought her grandfather would fill that role. Jennifer finds comfort in the letters, and unexpectedly finds herself in a new romance with an old friend, Brendan. She does the unthinkable and falls in love again. With this love comes pain however and Jennifer doesn't think she can survive it. A great story about love and the trials relationships face.

The Last Promise by Richard Paul Evans
This is the love story of Ross and Eliana. Eliana, known as Ellen in her hometown in Utah, is the wife of Maurizio, an Italian who swept her off her feet before becoming such a horrible pig. She has an asthmatic son named Alessio with Maurizio as well. Eliana is trapped in a loveless marriage and can't see a way out. Ross is an American, once an advertising executive in the United States, with a secret who is in search of himself. He lives next door to Eliana. Romance blossoms between Ross and Eliana and then disaster strikes and their affair is discovered. This book is beautifully written, with just enough mystery and romance to keep readers on their toes.

Phantom Waltz by Catherine Anderson
A tale of love that transcends all boundaries. Ryan Kendrick and Bethany Coulter are the stars in this book. Bethany is a paraplegic after having horrible barrel racing accident. Ryan, a multimillionaire playboy type, and she seem like an unlikely couple but after one date Ryan is hooked. Bethany is hesitant because of her paralysis and it takes some time for her to accept Ryan as anything more than a friend for fear of being rejected. They do eventually get together but of course there are problems they need to face because of Bethany's situation. Well written though Ryan's character is somewhat unbelievable.

At First Sight by Nicholas Sparks
This tale is a sequel to Nicholas Sparks' book True Believer. Jeremy, a science columnist, and Lexie, the local librarian, fell in love, and now Lexie is pregnant. Jeremy moves to Boone Creek, North Carolina so that they can marry and start building a life together. He struggles with being "forced" into small town life and tensions run high as the countdown to the wedding continues. Writer's block, mysterious emails, and jealousy threaten the happy couple's union. These characters' only hope is to talk it all out. The ending is a real surprise and extremely effective.

The Forever Year by Ronald Anthony
Jesse Sienne does not believe in lasting love until his father, Mickey, moves in with him. Mickey doesn't understand Jesse's relationship with his girlfriend Marina, who is a wonderful woman that deserves to be treasured, not something Jesse is doing. Jesse has been through several failed relationships so he isn't ready to commit. In order to open Jesse's eyes, Mickey reveals the secret of his first true love, Gina. Mickey was engaged to Gina 50 years earlier. As the months go by, Jesse comes to realize that lasting love does exist. In this book two loves stories are told, and I found myself extremely immersed in the stories. Makes for an excellent read.

The Last Valentine by James Michael Pratt
Writer Neil Thomas Jr. sets out to tell his parents' love story and television reporter Susan Allison gets the assignment. Unexpectedly, Susan finds the story intriguing and soon finds herself drawn to Neil Thomas Jr. This novel moves between the 1940's and the present day. Neil Thomas Sr. was stationed in the Pacific. He is killed, never having seen his unborn son or reuniting with his wife Caroline. Caroline waits for him for 50 years. This story is both interesting and moving. As Neil Thomas Jr. relates the love story to Susan, they fall in love. The ending is good, leaving you with a warm, fuzzy feeling. I didn't want the book to end.

These are the books that have made me cry, and they may pull a few tears out of you if you give them a shot. Hopefully this list gives some of you readers out there an idea of what book to choose next.
