Using Paper Cups and Plates for Christmas Decorations for Your Home
Use ordinary household items such as paper plates or cups and turn them into beautiful pieces of art for your home, just in time for the holidays.
Some of the items you'll want to collect before you get started are, plain paper plates in white and red and also plastic cups in red or white or green. You'll also need a glue gun as well as artificial leaves from a plant or buy some at a craft store such as Michaels.
You will also want to have handy some red berries artificial or live it does not matter as well as plenty of red ribbon or any Christmas color you choose. Also make sure you have acrylic paints, markers and cotton balls as well as miniature pine cones and construction paper and yarn.
Some other items you might try to locate are jingle bells, small tiny wrapped gifts or you can make your own. Also cinnamon sticks or cranberries work well for these projects. Once you've got all your supplies it's time to get started.
Let's first take a round white paper plate and turn it into a Santa face. Start by using a Black marker to draw on Santa's eyes as well as eye brows and nose. Now glue on cotton balls for beard and use construction paper to make Santa's hat. Glue on a piece of red yarn to hold your plate. Now display in window or hang on door knob.
Let's make a holiday wreath with miniature small red plastic plates. Using your glue gun slowly glue plates together in a circle as in the shape of a wreath. Once wreath is all glued together let dry and then once it's dry it's time to use your collections to decorate.
Add pieces of leaves in a clockwise motion around your wreath and add pieces of cinnamon sticks or berries and tie off pieces of ribbon as well. Completely fill the plates up with these craft items and once your done add a big red ribbon to the top of your plate wreath. Add a piece of yarn to the back for hanging or a strip of magnet on the back to display on your refrigerator.
I also use paper cups as part of my holiday decorating as well. I take small plastic cups that people use in their bathroom or either the small Styrofoam ones. You can either stack them on top of one another and glue them to each other and paint them and tie a ribbon in the middle and add glitter on the outside as well as a paper clip for the hook in the top and now hang from the tree.
One more amazing project that might take you awhile to do but in the long run well worth it, is to use small white Styrofoam cups and turn them sideways and lay them on the table. Using a piece of colorful Christmas ribbon tie it around the center of the cup and make a bow to hang on the tree. Using white fake snow found in craft stores sprinkle inside your cup. Now use small miniature people or crafts to make a miniature village that can be seen from afar by your guests.
The sky's the limit on what your imagination can create with plastic cups and plates. Try building a miniature train with attaching the plastic cups together and adding paint as well as candy such as Rollo's as the wheels and licorice and Hershey's kisses and life savers.
