RFA, New Way to Heal Pain and Tumors
This fairly new procedure is gaining in popularity with the medical community and the practitioners who hate don't want to see their patient suffering needlessly. It is fairly simple and gives great relief.
This procedure is now offering hope to people living with kidney cancer and liver tumor that are inoperable. These tumors can be destroyed using heat on the abnormal tissues that do not belong there. Patients who have had prostate surgery and develop adhesions afterward have benefited from this new procedure. Thermal ablation has even been successful in treating brain lymph nodes, the ganglia nerve, bone and arrhythmias of the heart with some success recently.
Now if you are wondering how this miracle works, let me try to explain it in layman's terms.
Electrodes are use to generate heat that then destroys any abnormal tissue. You probably have heard of singers with a high voice causing a glass to break when they hit a high note. This is caused by the high frequencies that come from the sound waves, heating the glass that then shatters.
RFA basically works on the same sort of principle except it is more centralized. In this case the heat that is produced by alternating current of high frequency radio waves generates electrodes and are aimed at a particular location by centering a probe directly where the problem occurs. These prong shaped non-insulated electrodes generate enough heat to melt the tissues around the area that is causing the problem. It take about 10 to 15 minutes for this procedure to kill these cells and they put you to sleep so you do not feel anything, they tell me.. These cells are not removed but are replaced with scar tissue and will usually shrinks over the coming months.
The use of heat is not that new when it comes to the history of medicine. Even Hippocrates has been quoted as saying, "What is not sure with a knife may be cured with fire." A heated knife has often used to stop severe bleeding in time of war. We called it cauterizing the wound. The difference here is it that they have found a way to use Radio-frequency Ablation to heal the body from the inside out.
I personally will undergo this procedure on my back in about six month. Why not sooner? Because, there is a long waiting line to have this done. If you are having any of these problems I mentioned, you might want to consider RFA. It could give you substantial relief form severe pain.
