2 Paper Crafts for Valentine's Day
Two easy projects that use few supplies. These Valentine's Day crafts are quick and easy.
Paper Heart Book
Materials:
cereal box
scissors
Pink paint
Paint brushes
Paper
Crayons
Small embellishments, stickers, paper hearts, flowers
Stapler
Directions:
1. Cut the back of the cereal box out. Fold it in half. Draw a heart close to the fold. Cut the heart out. You will end up with 2 hearts connected. Much like the old paper dolls.
2. Paint the hearts pink. This is to block the cereal box print from showing. Allow to dry.
3. Place the heart on a stack or paper ( 3 sheets should be enough). Trace the hearts and cut out. These will be the pages of your book. Place the pages inside the cardboard hearts. Staple in place.
4. Decide who the book is for. Then draw pictures on the pages about the person you love. Have a grown up help you write a message to that person.
5. Decorate the front and back of the book. Use paper hearts, stickers, stamps, beads, anything small you may have. When complete give to a friend or loved one.
Personal Heart Paper Doll
Materials:
Construction paper (lt. pink, dk. Pink, and purple)
Close-up photo
Glue stick
Ruler
Scissors
Heart nesting cookie cutters
Directions:
1. Use the 2nd smallest heart to trace on a photo. Make sure the face fits in the opening. Cut photo out.
2. Use the next size heart to trace onto dark pink paper. Cut out. Glue photo onto heart.
3. Use the largest heart to trace onto purple paper. Cut out. Glue the photo hearts onto the top edge of the purple heart. This is the body.
4. Use a ruler to draw 2,one inch, lines lengthwise on the light pink paper. Cut the strips out. Then cut the strips in half.
5. Accordion fold the strips. This is the arms and legs. Glue the "arms" on the top part of the purple paper. Glue the legs near the point of the purple heart.
6. Use the smallest heart to trace on purple paper. Cut out. These are the hands and feet. Glue the small hearts onto the ends of the folded paper. Now your paper doll can be embellished as desired. If not let dry a little, then play as desired!
