The Judges Finally Get it Right on Top Chef NY

On the previous Top Chef Leah stayed while Jamie packed her knives. She killed her celery and that's the only reason she went while Leah stayed without any thought of sending her home for quitting, twice!

With Carla winning the Quick Fire she gained an advantage in the Elimination Challenge. Each then chose their knives, each having a famous chef's name on it. Each of the famous chefs were asked what their last supper would be, and the chefs would be cooking that for them. It was huge pressure cooking for such famous chefs and Charla's advantage was to swap with anyone. She chose to keep her chef since he likes peas, making them immediately bffs apparently. That night the group went to dinner at Harold's restaurant. He won the first season and it gave them a bit of insight to what their future might hold. Whole Foods was their destination the next day and it was their last time shopping. At the store Stefan made Hosea a bit angry as he tried to "throw him off his game" and it seemed to work as Hosea wasted time complaining rather then shopping.

At their location the chefs began preparing their five course meals for their famous chefs. Carla was going simple yet again while Leah loves eggs. Not sure if that means she can cook them but she'll eat them anytime of the day apparently. Stefan's dish was, to him, easy and he says he won't go home because of it. Foreshadowing much? Hosea worked on some scampi and was experimenting a bit which seemed a little risky since its in the final five. While everyone was cooking Fabio broke his finger, bending it all the way back. The paramedic wanted to go to the hospital but he wouldn't go. It doesn't seem like it will hold him back but being a finger down when you're trying to dice and chop makes thing a bit more risky. Hopefully his finger doesn't send Fabio home. He deserves to stay and going home for a stupid reason as an injured finger would suck.

Fabio's finger seemed to be a bit of trouble as the potato flew around as he tried to peal it. He seems like he'll be fine though, God please let him send Leah home. Carla was confused at Hosea's strategy to give his chef a type of food he didn't really ask for, going against the whole point of the challenge. The judges plus the famous chefs then entered the dinning room and it was obvious they were important. Leah's dish went out first as she focused on eggs. Wylie, the guest judge for the Quick Fire, felt the eggs were too runny and wasn't happy with the salad. Nobody really had a kind word for the eggs which makes things look good for a Leah send off. Next up was Stefan whose dish focused on salmon for a last meal. The guest judge it was meant for felt he nailed the presentation but the fish was overcooked. Everyone else agreed that the fish was overcooked, meaning Stefan could go home for the dish he felt was safe.

Third was Hosea who sent out his own version of shrimp scampi. The judges didn't really have great or horrible review about the dish, so I'm not sure where Hosea stands. So far nobody has blown the judges away, but I guess that makes sense since they ARE the best of the best. Fabio's dishes then went out, which he somehow pulled off with only nine fingers. The judges loved the chicken while his famous chef felt it was perfect. Looks like Fabio is pretty safe but Carla was last up with her peas. The one guest judge hated squab but loved Carla's dish while Tom made things very clear that it was a generation gap as to how it was cooked. Many of them found Charla's dish to be pure which I believe will make her rather safe. Which is a good thing considering she's fun to watch lately!

Returning to the New York judges table for the last time it was time to send someone home and crown the top four going to Louisiana for the finale. All were called to the Judges Table for the elimination, the first time for the season. As the judges discussed it was obvious that Charla and Fabio were the better of the five dishes. Some felt Leah's eggs were really undercooked, which ranked worse then overcooked fish to Tom. Hosea's dish seemed to get a rather bland review, which made him somewhere in the middle, which is where he's been hanging around lately. When the final five returned to the judges table it was time for a winner to be crowned for the round: Fabio. That means he was in the final four and along with that he gained a trip to Napa Valley. Now that the happy times were over it was time to send someone home. Carla was told that she was safe while Hosea, Leah and Stefan remained in the bottom three. It was a close challenge and Tom said they all deserved to move on but FINALLY Leah didn't. Leah was sent home after quitting so many times and just being so down in the dumps. Thank God the final four doesn't have a Debby Downer and the four, well three, most exciting people are in the end. It's about damn time.
