The Best Places in Indiana to Hunt Deer
The southern part of the state is by far the best place to hunt deer in Indiana. The Hoosier National Forest is located in the southern part of the state as well and is prime time for hunting deer.
The dense wooded areas are a prime location for deer to feel protected. As previously mentioned, the northern parts of the state are made up of mainly flat vast farm land and deer will venture into fields to forage for food, but will typically not venture too far from the woods. To increase your odds of a kill, I would definitely hunt the woods. The southern parts of the state are made up of more ravens, hillsides, canyons, and acres upon acres of woods that deer love to roam. The Hoosier National Forest runs through the southern parts of the state which adds a great deal of opportunities for the new hunter. You are required to have tags and license to hunt the area, but with 430,000 gross acres at your disposal it is definitely worth looking in to.
The link provided will take you directly to the Hoosier National Forest home page where you can research to your heart's desire! r/ . For even more information about the Hoosier National Forest you can also access the following link to Wikipedia: oosier_National_Forest . If I were to pick one location of the whole state of Indiana, I would definitely hunt the Hoosier National Forest for my first start. The state has many different public hunting areas, but none have the magnitude of the Hoosier National Forest. Many farmers in the state will also rent acreage during a year for hunters to take advantage of. Typically a hunter can rent a good strip of land for under $1000/yr. If you like to be secluded and know that no one else will be hunting the same land as you, I would definitely recommend the rental of land. Hopefully this has provided the new hunter with a start! Good luck and be safe!
