Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 Versus Dyson DC14 Animal
Deciding between the Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 versus Dyson DC14 Animal for purchase.
Since we like to try and vacuum, when the children are asleep it is important that the vacuum be quiet enough that the fan and radio in the children's room will block out the sound. The Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 while somewhat noisy was actually able to pass this test. The Dyson DC14 Animal also passed this test but was a little louder.
Ease of use is also highly important with the amount of vacuuming done at home. We do not want to feel that we are getting a major workout ever time we vacuum. The Dyson DC14 Animal weighs in at 19 lbs, so it is not a light weight vacuum cleaner. It was also harder to push and navigate than what I would like. The Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 weighs 21 lbs, so it is actually heavier than the Dyson DC14 Animal. I also felt that it was not the easiest vacuum cleaner, I've used. It was hard to carry around. Although neither one of these were impressive with ease of use, I would say that I preferred the Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922.
The easiest thing to compare is price. The Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 costs 300 dollars. The Dyson DC14 Animal runs 550 dollars. So there is a large price difference between the two of them.
The next and most important factor I use in evaluating the vacuum cleaners in the cleaning abilities. Since I have two dogs that tend to shed year long it is vital that the vacuum cleaner pick up pet hair. The Dyson DC14 Animal does not perform very well when it comes to picking up dog hair. The Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 was performs really well in picking up dog hair. In other areas of cleaning, the Dyson DC14 Animal did a really good job cleaning carpets and bare floors. I do feel I should add that I feel the attachments cleaned decently but could use a little more suction. It is also important that it did not have much trash or garage released while vacuuming. In comparison, I believe that the Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 did an excellent job in cleaning carpets, bare floors, and also feel the attachments also did really well and had a great suction ability. The Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 actually had very few emissions while starting and vacuuming. Overall, the Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 outperformed the Dyson DC14 Animal in cleaning ability.
Both vacuum cleaners are really great vacuums. I will admit;however, since the Dyson is so heavy advertised, I was expecting to have to spend the extra money and purchase it. Much to my surprise the Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 actually came out ahead in every category, I felt was important. I will gladly save my $250.00 and purchase the vacuum cleaner that is quiet, easier to use, and best of all the better cleaner.
