The Benefits of Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is a new form of business optimization that can take efficiency to the next level. This article addresses the benefits and concerns of cloud computing.
For those who don't know, cloud computing is a way for a business to store important customer information or data in a "cloud," which is just another name for the internet. In the past and even today, companies purchase major in-house servers that host database software. Because all of the customer's information is stored in these servers, back up software and servers are often needed, and expensive technicians are hired to upkeep and preserve these systems on a regular basis. Because technology is always changing, software becomes quickly outdated, and slow software can result in longer customer service wait times. Outdated software can often times be more susceptible to hackers and thieves as well. An example of this is web based email and web page hosts. With these types of systems, there is no special program or software needed to build a webpage or host an email address. Everything is instead based off of the Internet and can therefore be accessed from any location in the world.
Cloud computing on the other hand is an internet based service that is always up to date with the most recent technological updates. There is no software to install and all information is stored in secure, authorized locations with access limited by authentication verification. Information is encrypted to further prevent hackers from stealing important information. Safety features are checked and rechecked daily to ensure privacy for both the client and the company as well.
Cloud computing can cut down on labor costs for companies, as well as expensive updates and server repair costs. Most contracts with cloud computing servers allow for special clauses that reimburse companies for any down time that may be experienced during routine system updates, though this is rare. In fact, most information is stored in a primary location, and backed up in alternate locations so that it is virtually impossible to lose or erase client information.
Cloud computing is definitely an option to be considered for any company that desires to take its customer service and efficiency to the next level. With many companies to choose from, competition is high, which drives the price down. Prices are lower than they ever have been and can really help cut down on a business' bottom line.
