Final Fantasy 12 Auto Level Trick
Final Fantasy 12 contains a simple trick that can be used to let your characters fight an endless spawn of monsters automatically. Use this to get a ton of gold and license points.
Final Fantasy 12 Auto Leveling Explained
Final Fantasy 12 introduced the "gambit" system, a method of automatically telling your party members what to do in certain situations. If someone in your party gets poisoned, you can have someone else set up to automatically cure them without you ever having to press a button. It is a pretty powerful system that makes the endless random field encounters less painful and helps ensure that your team always has protective buffs up.
Using the gambit system and a certain oddity in the behavior of one type of monster it is possible to set up an automatic levelling and money making script. Using this method might be considered cheating by some, a time saver by others. I make no judgement as to whether or not it is right or wrong to use this method, I leave it entirely up to you to decide.
In general the script works by having your characters constantly casting Break on the Jellies in one of the switch rooms in the Henne Mines. Break will cause Petrify on the Jelly, and ten rounds later it will die. In this particular room, when the Jelly dies due to Petrify, another one will immediately respawn to take it's place. This allows you to setup an endless stream of monsters to kill and, if your characters can handle it, an endless stream of experience and license points.
Final Fantasy 12 Auto Level Process
In order to use this auto levelling process, you need the following spells, gambits, and techniks:
Gambit - Foe : Furthest
Gambit - Ally : Any
Gambit - Ally : HP lt; 30%
Gambit - Self : MP lt; 10%
Spell : Raise
Spell : Break
Spell : Curaga
Spell : Esuna
Technik : Charge
You will set up the gambits on all characters like this:
Ally : Any - Raise
Ally : Any - Esuna
Ally : HP lt; 30% - Curaga
Self : MP lt; 10% - Charge
Foe : Farthest - Break
Foe : Farthest - Steal (or Attack if this character does not have Steal)
So you go to the switch room in Pithead Junction B in the Henne Mines. The easiest way is to teleport into the mines using one of the orange teleporter stones, this will put you pretty close to the switch room.
Before flipping the switch and spawning the Jellies, make sure that you have the gambits setup like I have explained above. Also you need to remove any weapons that your characters are using so that if they get hit with Confuse, they won't do any damage to the other party members while waiting to be cured. Equip the strongest armor you have on each character to reduce the physical damage they will take from the jellies. Finally, you have a few choices as to what to do with your accessories slot. You could equip Golden Amulets to increase license points gain, but you will be getting so many points doing this I think that it is overkill to do so. You can put bowline sashes on to make you immune to confuse, then you could replace Esuna in the gambits with Poisona, which uses less MP per cast.
Once your equipment is setup, then you still have a few options you might want to look at for your Gambits. You want to use Gambits that will make the levelling faster, so you can consider inserting any of these (which must be put in the Gambit list ABOVE the casting of Break):
Shell - Reduce the number of times your party members get confused or poisoned, which means less time casting healing spells.
Protect - Less damage taken means less healing, though if your characters are level 40 and have decent armor they won't be taking ANY physical damage at all.
Haste - Self explanatory.
Once you have everything setup, just hit the switch. This is what should happen:
The Jellies will start spawning and your characters will start casting Break on them. If all of the Jellies have Break, then your party will try to steal or attack. This causes your characters to move around which will allow them to collect loot that drops when the Jellies pop. If someone dies one of your other two characters will resurrect him. When their magic gets low, they will use Charge, and if someone gets Poisoned or Confused, one of the other characters will cast Esuna to remove it. Watch the battle for a few minutes to make sure everything is going smoothly. Note that killing Jellies with Break will NOT increase the chain count, so sometimes I will go through the process manually a few times to get the chain level up to 3 or 4 before starting the auto levelling.
Final Fantasy 12 Auto Levelling
Now doing this is not as fast as chaining the room manually with Firaga, but it doesn't require any user interaction, so you can leave it run while you go to bed or watch your favorite TV show. It takes less than an hour to max out on Phials of Yellow Liquid for a total of just over 50,000 gil in loot and a ton of experience and license points.
