Top 10 Christian Songs by Casting Crowns
Casting Crowns is a Christian rock group that has been on the scene for a short time, but has made a huge impact in the Christian music scene. Their talent, songs, deep faith and humility would appear to be the secret to their success.
1) What if His People Prayed?
This song has always been a favorite, but it spoke volumes to me just the other day. I had attended a bible study in a private home. The person running it, posed a seemingly odd and faithless question. What followed was a lot of discussion by people trying to guess what the bible was saying. I am no bible scholar, but believe when we listen and we hear, God places His truth in our hearts. The song talks about people having faith and believing in God's promise! The second verse spells it out loud and clear: "What if the church for heaven's sake, finally stepped up to the plate, took a stand upon God's promise, and stormed hell's rusty gates?"
2) If We are The Body
"Why aren't His arms reaching, why aren't His words teaching?" Powerful words to describe the hypocrisy often seen in the churches today. Often when people attend church, they feel like an outcast. The one place everyone should feel at home. Many times, people treat others nicer at work, school, or in a social setting than they do at church. In this song, one line really touches on the absurdity of that: "Jesus paid much too high a price for us to pick and choose who should come". The human equation is ever present in everyone.
3) Voice of Truth
Have you ever had anyone try to use your faith against you? For example, telling you as a Christian how you are to act? Or how you are to serve and obey as they want you to? Many people will call on you, tug at you, mistreat you, and make you feel obligated to do things for them, all in the name of being a Christian. Learn not to listen to man, he will fail you. Listen to your heart, and you will hear the "voice of truth." And like this song says, no matter what you are going through, you can "choose to listen and believe the voice of truth".
4) Who am I?
We are taught that God loves us unconditionally. When you hear this song, it really places everything into perspective. I am not worthy, but He loves me anyway. He is to be worshiped, and takes the time to care about my hurt, pain, heartache, and trials. It gives a common sense perspective on the portion of the scripture, Romans 8:31, if God is for us, then who will be against us? From my perspective, it defines the deep respect we as His children have for Him, and the deep abiding love He has for us.
5) Praise you with the Dance
This song is really awesome when you just want to hear a great tune, clap your hands, and worship the Lord openly and without a care in the world. It is also a way to praise Him for delivering you and bringing you the gift of His salvation.
6) Life of Praise
A great reflection and description of the awesomeness and strength of God our heavenly Father, through His son Jesus Christ. This song is a wonderful praise and worship song as well.
7) Does Anybody Hear Her
About a hurting young woman, lost and reaching for love and security anywhere she can find it. This song speaks to me on a personal level because I know someone that is in this exact situation. She is a Christian, and thankfully, God won't let her go. I believe she will find her way back to His great mercy, in His perfect timing.
8) Slow Fade
This song has a terrific melody, and warns of the dangers of what we see and hear. To watch out for idle hands that can cause us to sin. That our thoughts when they are out of God's realm can lead to destruction. It's a slow fade, no one ever crumbles in a day", describing that it is not always "in an instant" when a person falls.
9) Every Man
What a timely song this is. So many men killing their families and themselves due to their hubris, and fearfulness. Their shame to face the decisions and choices they have made. Believing lies from the enemy. Seeking wealth, power, the world's idea of prosperity, and not seeking to find the true love of God that is free for all to enjoy. We are all prone to this kind of faithlessness, and must stand firmly in the storms, just as we openly and freely enjoy the fruits of our labor in good times. The last line in the song sums it all up and is the truth. "Jesus is hope for every man".
10) All Because of Jesus
I am alive! This song is a great worship song, and brings me up each and every time I hear it. It speaks of His great majesty, tells how He is King over all of the universe, and still He takes the time to care that His children are alive, and filled with His joy!
Thank you for letting me share my perspective of these great songs/lyrics. If you do not listen to Casting Crowns already, I strongly encourage you to! It is very inspirational, insightful, and uplifting music!
