How Do I Get Closer to God?
What is Christian meditation and how can it help you get closer to God?
Getting Closer to God
Often people wonder, "How do I get closer to God?" The simple fact is ... it's easy. Instead of living your day-to-day life with the hopes of gaining a closer walk with Him, do something about it and actually get closer to Him. He is there waiting for you. You only have to take the time to walk closer. It is not enough just to want it.
To begin with, make a plan each day to give God 10 to 15 minutes of your day. That is only a little more than and hour a week. You probably waste more time than that driving places, looking at magazines, on social sites or even reading a book.
While all of these things are fine, are they helping you get closer to God? My guess is the answer was no.
There are some Christian meditation sites and programs roaming around that you will want to stay away from, but there are some good ones too. Quite a few truly want to help you get closer to God by leading you down a serene path with music, Bible verses and encouragement. How do these help?
There are a lot of people who sit down each day and read the Bible, but they don't remember a word they read once they close the book. Think about it. You have probably done the same thing. With meditation, you can not only focus on several bible verses, but you can dig deeper to find out what God is trying to teach you in those verses.
It is not about how many verses you read, but about experiencing God's word with Him through your daily walk. If you have a lot of noisy family members that keep you from focusing, try taking a walk and settling down for a quiet meditation with Him. Wake up early before everyone else. Park by the beach and let the ocean waves remind you just how big God truly is. Before long, you'll begin to feel that closeness you desire.
