Actor Gerald McCullouch Attacked on New York Subway
Actor Gerald McCullouch, who has appeared on the television drama CSI, was attacked in a New York City subway by a man wielding a knife. McCullouch, who is a trained boxer, was able to fend off the attacker with a "body shot to the chest."
Fortunately, Gerald McCullouch is a trained boxer, and was able to fend off his attacker. According to the New York Daily News, McCullouch gave the attacker a "body shot to the chest."
"That's when he pulled a kitchen knife out of a black plastic bag," McCullouch said. "This thing must have had a blade 10 inches long. ...I yelled at the top of my lungs, 'Get the [bleep] away from me!' That's when the knife came down into my back. I don't know whether he lost his grip or what, but the blade didn't penetrate my leather jacket."
Police have arrested the attacker. He is 39-year-old James Torres, and he is being charged with robbery, assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. Torres has a date with the court on March 23.
Interestingly, this is not the fist time actor Gerald McCullouch has been mugged. In 2001, he was robbed at gunpoint in Atlanta.
Gerald McCullouch and other celebrity crime victims
Unfortunately, the public is more used to hearing about celebrities that are the perpetrators of crime rather than the victim. Is seems as though an entire book can be filled with celebrity mug shots. But celebrities are not immune from being the victim of crimes as well. Recently, for example, socialite Paris Hilton's mansion was broken into. There have been many occasions where a family member of a celebrity is the victim of a crime. Sadly, in Jennifer Hudson's case, it was more than one of her family members that was victimized (her mother, brother and nephew were murdered). Billy Bob Thornton's son is the alleged victim of unlawful sex. And, of course, John Lennon was the victim of the most heinous crime imaginable - he was murdered by a deranged fan.
Perhaps the most common type of crime committed against celebrities is stalking. Here is a short list of celebrities that have been targeted by stalkers: David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, Uma Thurman, Michael Douglas, Britney Spears and Sheryl Crow.
