Baby Gift Butterflies
Give a baby gift that looks like a butterfly.

Embellishments, such as yarn, wire, beads, etc.
Where is the rule book about wrapping gifts? Is it written that a baby shower gift has to be in baby-theme wrapping paper? A baby-theme gift bag? Who says that I can't give a gift without wrapping it first? Hello? Please pick yourself up off of the floor! Sometimes, wrapping paper or a gift bag isn't the cutest look that you can create for a baby gift. That's really true if you're giving a particular type of present. When you give the chosen item the look of a butterfly, you don't have to wrap the present, and you create something darling.
There are different ways to make gift butterflies, and there are assorted things that you can use as the gifts, so this craft offers something for everyone. Take an item, such as a disposable diaper, and use it to make the butterfly. Bend a pipe cleaner in half, slide the diaper's side between the two pipe cleaner pieces, and hold the pipe cleaners with one hand. With the other hand, scrunch the diaper, and quickly twist the pipe cleaner. If needed, trim the end of the pipe cleaner so that you make antennae from them.
Fold a pipe cleaner in half and set it aside for the moment. Fold two baby washcloths in half (they can be the same color or not), slide one washcloth between the pipe cleaners, and then slide the other washcloth in. The two cloths should have their folds aligned and touching. Scrunch the washcloths as you hold the pipe cleaner in one hand. Twist the pipe cleaner and you instantly secure the washcloths while creating the antennae for the butterfly. Instead of a pipe cleaner, you can use a barrette, or even a large safety pin. Wrap the pin with yarn or wire to give the butterfly a solid body.
Other gifts that you can turn into butterflies include burp cloths, lightweight receiving blankets, and t-shirts. Craft items that can be used to embellish the cute butterflies include stick-on jewels, decorative tape dots or shapes, beads (for antenna ends), and tiny pom-poms. Make tiny butterflies, much larger ones, or even giant ones, depending on the gift and the craft supplies that you use.
Gift butterflies can be used to decorate at a baby shower and, when the shower is over, the mom and baby have lots of new and useful things. Of course, Mom will have to disassemble each butterfly to use the things but that takes just seconds for each one.
