The Benefits of a Full Night's Sleep as a College Student

Many students feel as though they can "wing" it without much sleep. But this trend can result in poor scholastic performance.

One. Get up early. Getting up 20 to 30 minutes before what you are used to will give you time to take care of hygiene and breakfast, yes, you can eat breakfast again before school, it will be just like third grade.

Two. Go to sleep earlier. Chances are you are not doing school work two hours before you hit the sack, unless you are in finals week, in which case, you will not sleep. By going to sleep two hours earlier you will either get two more hours of sleep, or be able to wake up two hours earlier, which is great for the reason I posted above.

Three. When you get a full night's sleep, your body and mind are rested up. Do you notice how much more tired you are now in college than when you were in high school? Because the university setting is more demanding than public high school, you are demanding more out of your brain.

Four. Make sure you sleep on a bed, and not a couch or the floor. If you have room mates you might all share rooms, or you might have the living room. If you sleep in the living room, make sure you don't sleep on a regular couch, invest on a futon. Although they are not as comfortable as a bed, I doubt your room mates will allow you to put a bed in the living room. So, get the extra futon with the thickest cushion.

Five. If you plan to study on two hours of sleep, you may have found out it is impossible. Without studying, it is much harder to pass your classes, without passing classes it's hard to graduate. It's simple syllogism. If A=B and B=C then A=C.
